Giant Siamese Carp (Catlocarpio Siamensis) is the most prized carp specie in the world and also the biggest carp species in the world and this fish can reach the weight of 300kg. The Giant Siamese Carp can be 3m (10ft) and 300kg (660lb). The Thai name for the Giant Siamese Carp is Pla Caho.

In its native habitat, the Giant Siamese Carp feeds on most things like vegetation, worms and insects. Like most barb fish species, it will move around the riverbed looking for food with its gigantic mouth. Its favoured conditions will be deep, weedy, slow moving or still waters.

These days, this fish is extremely rare as pollution and excessive commercial fishing for it has nearly wiped it out from its natural habitat. Fortunately for anglers, this fish has been successfully bred and been stocked in many lakes around Thailand. This fish can be bred in captivity but it requires 7 years before it is sexually mature. If this is the same as in the wild, then this fish is surely very susceptible to over fishing.

In Bungsamran, stocked fish has been caught up to 120kg size. To increase the probability to get a very big Siamese Carp in Bungsamran, you can use strong 7 – 8ft. long rod. Also, total concentration is required during the fight.
