Among the anglers, Black Marlin is known as a sea fish that is quite difficult to conquer. Although the bait is properly installed and the fish has seen the existence of the bait, but it doesn’t guarantee that Black Marlin will eat the bait because it usually just plays with bait using a pointed tip of its mouth and goes away just like that. Feed Selection

In catching Black Marlin, you can use live bait or artificial bait (lure). Live baits that can be used are like tuna and mackerel in fresh condition. Meanwhile, a suitable lures given to the Black Marlin is a lure with a shape of fish or squid. When the condition of the sea water is clear, you can use a shiny colored lure such as silver, silvery black, bluish black, or green. Whereas, when the sea water is turbid, use lures with attracting colors like red, yellow, and orange.

 

Gears Preparation

To catch Black Marlin, it’s ideal for you to use fishing line with 30 lb or 50 lb to 80 lb or 130 lb. If you are quite advanced, use a smaller fishing line like 10 lb or 20 lb for a more exciting experience. Use leader element made of large monofilament or wire with max size 9 m for line class above 20 lb and 4.57 m for line below 20 lb.

 

Fishing Technique

When your bait is struck by the Black Marlin, immediately stretch the line about 10 seconds so that the bait will float like a live fish. Then, you can start raising the drag as fast as you can while fighting the fish. To make it easier, you can install an outrigger that allows the strap to run automatically when it feels like a fish is playing your bait.
